Because You Got Strawberries at Home!
Talk about being late to the party. We don’t know how we missed the news of Hailey Bieber’s Strawberry Glazed Skin Smoothie when it first came out. There must have been a WiFi delay in getting this news from Calabasas to our base in Chicago.
Hmph…No matter, we’re here now. And color us intrigued by this glowing skin combo mixed with strawberry goodness. Especially after seeing your first-sip reactions trending all over social media.
As smoothie aficionados ourselves, our tastebuds were immediately piqued by this colorful smoothie that promises to deliver glowing, plump skin at every sip. Made with a blend of sea moss, collagen, avocado, strawberries, and coconut creme, we could easily see how this smoothie boosts both skin benefits and yummy flavor.
We were completely sold—until we saw the $19 price tag (yes, for a smoothie). Seriously, is it served with fine slices of gold? Actually, that sounds lovely.
Immediately, our first thoughts were, “For $19, we got strawberries at the house!”
For 19 Dollars, We Got Strawberries at the House.”
-Muse Ever After
So with that, we thought, let’s search for all the ingredients ourselves and do a blind dupe.
Making this $19 Erewhon Hailey Bieber Smoothie…At Home
We saw from a few taste testers online, that the Hailey Bieber smoothie tastes like an edible strawberry vanilla candle. This leads us to believe that there’s a flavor profile of warm vanilla cream layered with sweet, juicy strawberry—perfect for those with a sweet tooth and a skincare obsession. Call us naive but it seems easy enough for us to replicate. Because again we can not stress this enough, “We got smoothie ingredients at the house!” Ha.
We’ll call our version of this recipe: Muse Ever After’s Strawberry Dewy Skin Smoothie.
First things first, let’s source everything that we’ll need for this recipe. We pulled up the list of ingredients on Erewhon’s website and they are listed as the following:
Malk almond milk, organic bananas, organic strawberries, organic avocado, organic dates, organic maple syrup, Vital Proteins vanilla collagen, vanilla stevia, sea moss, organic coconut creme, Driscoll’s Organic Strawberry Glaze
Immediately we saw a couple of ingredients that we were going to either add or substitute. The first ingredient that we’re gonna substitute is the Malk almond milk. No disrespect to that man, but almond milk is not high on our healthy list of milk choices to drink these days. We’ll give you all the low down on that later. So for our version, we’ll try unsweetened coconut milk instead.
The second thing we’re gonna add is brown sugar. Again, we want to bring out the warmth of the vanilla flavor. Brown sugar will also help to deepen the flavor of our fresh strawberries. So we’ll add it to heighten the taste of our strawberry glaze and strawberry smoothie base.
Speaking of vanilla, we think the recipe needs a bit more. We’ll be layering it throughout this recipe with either our homemade vanilla extract or the Bourbon Vanilla Paste sold at Trader Joe’s.
Lastly, we’ll be adding in a bit of lemon zest and fresh lemon juice. For our strawberry glaze, we are going to make our version of a strawberry reduction and the added lemon heightens and brightens the fresh flavor of the strawberries.
Trust us.

Instructions
PREP
Alright, we have quite a few items to prep for this recipe. We recommend prepping a day or two in advance to better enhance the flavor of some ingredients.
Start by washing and thoroughly rinsing all of your fresh fruits. This helps to remove any harmful pesticides, residual dirt, and germs that may have occurred from production to handling in the store.
Strawberries Prep
Cut and halve your two pints of strawberries. Add each pint to a separate bowl and toss in 1 tbl of brown sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla paste. Gently stir and put away to chill for at least a few hours. Again, the flavors will be best if macerated in the refrigerator for a day or two.
Bananas Prep
Peel and cut your bananas in half. Store them in a freezer-safe bag (we love ours from Stasher) and allow them to freeze.
Avocado Prep
Cut and store your avocado pieces in the freezer.
Coconut Cream Prep
Place your can of coconut cream in the refrigerator. Allow to chill for at least a day or two. We recommend chilling a second can of coconut cream as a backup. It’s a natural product and may or may not whip if it’s a dud can.
Also, we recommend watching this video for a list of coconut cream brands that tend to whip successfully and those that do not. We had success with using the Whole Foods 365 brand of coconut cream. Some others we tried did not work and only crumbled.
You will also want to chill the mixing bowl in the refrigerator for up to 30 minutes before whipping the coconut cream.
Sea Moss Gel Prep
If you already have sea moss gel on hand, then you’re all set. But if you need to make a batch and it’s your first time ever making it, no worries. We got you. Here’s our easy-to-follow Sea Moss Gel recipe, which we use as a base in many of our soups and smoothies.
Once your gel is blended, store it in a sealed container, like our favorite from W&P, and keep chilled in the refrigerator until ready to use.
STEP 1: COOK THE STRAWBERRY GLAZE
- Place your already-prepped strawberries into a blender and blend until smooth. Add the mixture to a small saucepan on medium heat.
- Add 1 tsp of vanilla paste, 1 tsp of sea moss gel, 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice, and a bit of lemon zest.
- Stir often and bring to a boil.
- Reduce to a simmer.
- Allow to cook down until reduced by half.
- Add strawberry glaze to a storage container and keep it cool in the refrigerator.
STEP 2: COOK THE BANANA PUREE
- Hand-blend a banana or add it to a standing blender until smooth. If needed, add up to 2 oz of water.
- Add the mixture into a small saucepan on medium heat.
- Add 1 tsp of Vanilla paste. Stir often and bring to a boil.
- Reduce to a simmer.
- Allow to cook down until reduced by half.
- Add Banana puree to a storage container and keep it cool in the refrigerator.
STEP 3: WHIP THE BANANA COCONUT CREAM
- Open the can of chilled coconut cream and drain the liquids.
- You may discard the liquid or set it aside in a bowl for later recipes.
- Spoon out the coconut cream and place it inside your chilled mixing bowl.
- Begin mixing the coconut cream on low for 1-2 minutes to allow it to smooth and soften.
- Add 1 tsp of vanilla paste, 1 tbl of banana puree, and 1 tsp of sifted powdered sugar.
- Mix the coconut cream on medium for 5 minutes or until whipped and fluffy. (Be patient here—it takes a few minutes to come together!)
- Add the whipped banana coconut cream to a storage container and keep it cool in the refrigerator.
STEP 4: BLEND THE STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE BASE
- Add the remaining fresh strawberries, 2-4 oz of coconut milk, 1 tsp of sea moss gel, 1-2 tsp of vanilla collagen powder, 1 quarter piece of avocado, 1 pitted date, 1 tsp of maple syrup, 2 tsp of vanilla paste, 3-5 drops of vanilla stevia, and ¼ cup of whipped banana coconut cream to your blender.
- Blend on high for 1 minute or until smooth. If using a Vitamix like we are, just hit the smoothie button and let it do all the work for you.
STEP 5: BUILD YOUR SMOOTHIE
- Add 1 to 2 tbl of strawberry glaze to your glass.
- Next, add a layer of 1 to 2 tbl of Whipped Banana Coconut Cream.
- Swirl the whipped coconut cream up and down each side of the glass to add decorative swirl patterns.
- Last, pour your blended strawberry smoothie base to fill the top of the glass.
Add a straw and enjoy!
Listen…we’re not gonna lie. By the time we got through each step, we “overstand” why this smoothie has such a high price tag. Now, excuse us while we sip on skincare.
Try this smoothie as a post-pilates pick-me-up, a weekend ritual for glowy skin, or with your girls for a DIY self-care day.
