Taylour Paige’s Journey from Endometriosis to “Oh, Baby!”

Her Inspiring Healing Journey to Motherhood

@Taylour

We first fell for Taylour Paige as the all-American sweetheart Asha on VH1’s series Hit the Floor. Between her show-stopping dance moves, steamy on-screen romance with an NBA player, complicated parent dynamics, ongoing standoffs with a treacherous rival, and a deliciously dramatic murder mystery, we were completely seated for every season!

Since leaving the show, Taylour has blazed our screens in cult-favorite and critically acclaimed movie projects—from Zola and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom to the highly anticipated Netflix release of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F starring Eddie Murphy. She even shared the screen with Kendrick Lamar in his viral music video short for “We Cry Together.” To us, on the outside looking in, Taylour was simply That Girl.

But behind the camera, Taylour was quietly enduring a very different and crippling reality.

In a recent Instagram post, Taylour opened up for the first time about her 20-year battle with endometriosis—a debilitating and often misunderstood illness that went undiagnosed and untreated for decades. Her words were raw and vulnerable, and the pain she described was palpable.

“I was in agony and turmoil,” she wrote. “Throwing up every month. Sometimes couldn’t drive. The pain would make me see stars,” explains Taylour.

So What Is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus (mind you, this growth is in places where it doesn’t belong), like the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or even the colon, rectum, and bladder, as was Taylour’s case. While this rogue tissue behaves like normal uterine lining (thickening, breaking down, and even bleeding with every menstrual cycle), it has nowhere to go. In fact, this tissue never leaves the body. Ultimately, for many women, this leads to the painful growth of cysts, scar tissue, and even adhesions that may cause pelvic tissues and organs to fuse together. Seriously, WTF!?

The result? Inflammation, excruciating pain, and a bodily betrayal.

For many women, the symptoms are so severe that they interfere with daily life, relationships, and fertility. According to the World Health Organization, endometriosis can cause chronic pelvic pain, nausea, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. Still, it’s notoriously underdiagnosed. Why? Because we’ve been conditioned since childhood to believe that violent period pain is just part of “being a woman.”

Taylour echoed that sentiment in her Instagram post, writing:

“The worst is how much you gaslight yourself. It’s almost like… there’s no way you’re hurting this much, right? It psychologically does something to you when even you stop believing your own pain.”

That’s the part that hits hardest. And we’ll say it louder for the people in the back: That’s. That. Bullsh*t.

From Inflammation to Intuition

Taylour describes how the illness made her feel trapped in her own body—an especially cruel fate for a Hollywood actress who is constantly expected to look and feel her best on red carpets, photoshoots, press tours, meet and greets, and interviews.

She muses, “The anxiety of next month. So many times I’ve ruined a costume or a good pair of jeans. In high school, my khaki uniform skirts,” she shared. “I learned over the last few years that endo is anger turned on yourself. You’re literally inflamed. That tracked for me.”

For Taylour, recognizing her body’s pattern of inflammation and pain became a turning point in her healing journey. Finally, she was ready to fight back on her own terms. She built a wellness ritual centered around nourishment and nervous system support to reduce the severity of flare-ups. This included implementing more clean water, acupuncture, protein, and saunas into her wellness routine. She also credits the love of her sister and husband for giving her the safety and support her body needed to begin healing.

Eventually, Taylour underwent a 4-hour surgery with Dr. Elizabeth Poynor to remove the endometrial tissue. Taylour now bears the visible scars she shared in her Instagram post as symbols of triumph and hope.

Hope, Ever After

Taylour now speaks with a sense of gratitude, peace, and presence.

She wrote, “I’m so grateful for what I’ve been able to turn around in myself over the last few years. I’m thankful for good bloodwork and new days. Sunshine. Good walks. Jumping on my mini trampoline. It’s not just one thing—it’s a whole lot of things. And I’m thankful we live in a time we can share and help each other.”

Soon after this post, Taylour dropped something else that she is grateful for—a surprise pregnancy announcement!

Her new bundle of joy is the perfect symbol of healing, resilience, and restoration after a long battle with one’s own body. Hope, ever after.

To fellow Muses battling similar pain, she offers a gentle reminder to give yourselves grace: “So many women are going THROUGH it. Be gentle with us.”

Taylour Paige’s story is one of self-trust, community, and transformation. From hidden pain to new life, Taylour reminds us that healing is not linear, but possible. And that joy—real, abundant, body-honoring joy—is still within reach.
